How do you rate a cookbook's condition?
We use the following ratings to describe the condition of various copies in stock:
A Condition Like New: Appears unused but may have been previously owned.
A- Very Good Condition: Lightly used with some minor flaws. Possible previous owner or gift inscription.
B Good Condition: Good used condition with a few flaws like small tears, repairs, spots, or soil. May have previous owner recipe notes.
C Cooking Copy: We call these “Cooking Copies” as they are plenty good for use in the kitchen, but show advanced wear, marks or staining. Bindings may be loose from wear.
Many of our hardbound copies include their original dust jacket and are noted as “with DJ” in the condition description.
What does it mean when you note that a book has been repaired?
Sometimes a cookbook has minor condition issues (small page tears, loose bindings, snapped hinges) which can be fixed with some simple repairs. We are not restorers so we limit our repairs to simple procedures on more common titles. We do not attempt to repair antique or collectible books of substantial value.
May I add a gift note to an order?
Sure. Simply add your gift message in the customer message box on your order page. When we send a gift order, we include a packing slip that does not include price information and a note card with your message.
If you don’t have a book I want, can you contact me if it arrives?
Yes. If you find the item on our site click the "Please notify me when item arrives." phrase and enter your email address. You will be automatically notified when the book arrives. Please note that there may be several customers waiting for the same title, and we ship on a first-to-order basis.

Can you help identify a cookbook?
We’ll try. It’s not uncommon that an antique or well-worn book loses its cover, making it difficult to identify. We can help you identify some clues and hopefully match it up with a replacement copy.

May I return a book if I’m not satisfied with it?
Of course. Satisfied customers are what keep us in business and we want to make sure you are 100% satisfied with your purchase. We accept returns for any reason within a reasonable amount of time. We do not cover the cost of return shipping. Information on our return policy can be found here.
